I’m very excited to announce this workshop in Calgary. I first met the facilitators, Brian and Shasta, during a retreat on Bowen Island last November. So inspired by their work and its amazing ability to bring sound, healing, community, rhythm and meditation together, I decided to bring them here to share their magic with the Calgary Community. Shasta and Brian will also be joining me as special guests for the summer solstice Evening of Music for the Soul on Saturday, June 21st. Check out the details below.

What workshop participants have been saying:

“Inside all of the rhythms, I found a stillness, a whole other level of awareness…”
“It felt really, really nourishing, like a sweet walk in the park with no destination.”                                                  “I was focused on each moment, on each beat, on each rhythm, I forgot about everything else.”
“You have this beautiful sound going on in your body, and you’re not really thinking about it you’re just doing it.”
“This kind of knowingness, trust and surrender, you can just let go and be part of the vast creation of oneness. How important this is to do on a regular basis, to create ritual together”
“What rhythm can teach us, where rhythm can take us to multi-dimensional levels of awareness.”

This three day workshop reconnects you with the healing powers of rhythm and primordial motion. Like yoga, it is a pathway to something much bigger than musical or physical dexterity. It is a rhythmic route to integrating mind, body, and spirit for vibrant peace and wellbeing.
In the TaKeTiNa process you learn at your own pace, layering multiple rhythms in your body using steps, claps and voice. You learn to consciously let one hand be passive while actively moving the other. You can be simultaneously tensed for activity and deeply relaxed. TaKeTiNa gives you access to profound stillness in movement.

Join TaKeTiNa facilitators Shasta Martinuck and Brian Hoover as they weave the “Yoga of Rhythm,” and discover how your own innate rhythmic wisdom can guide you into joyful presence in the here and now
No Musical Experience Necessary.

This workshop, based on the practice of TaKeTiNa, is one of the most efficient learning methods available today. It is a process for activating human and musical potential through rhythm. It is a path in which musical learning always goes hand in hand with personal development.
